The Filtering of Listening (in development)

2025 -

The Filtering of Listening is a demonstrative performance exploring how human auditory perception filters the world of sound. Through a series of participatory exercises, the audience experiences which sounds stand out in noise, how we select and prioritise information when listening, and how we use physical means to block or reduce sound. The lecture also examines the psychological filters that shape our listening, what we pay attention to, what we ignore, and why.

Combining factual auditory science with performative demonstration, the work reveals moments of surprise and play, unfolding like a live sound performance while inviting the audience to reflect on the complexity of listening.
